POWER supply was cut off throughout Guam last night after a transformer in Maite reportedly blew up but the Guam Power Authority would not confirm this.
GPA said it would take at least six hours to restore power. Certain areas like Harmon, but, took longer to get back their electricity.
GPA Spokesperson Art Perez confirmed that as of 7:25 p.m. last night, there was an island wide blackout and that none of its generators were providing power to the island.
As of 8:47 p.m. parts of Dededo, Tumon, Barrigada, Agatna and Aniqua, had their electricity back.
Perez could not say what caused the power outage. He said GPAs only priority at the time was to be able to restore power to Guams residents.
He added that GPA was working on using its backup generators to power its main generators Cabras 1 and 2 in Piti. With reports by Jennifer Naylor Gesick
