Bill 471, which was introduced and passed in the 30th Guam Legislature, continues to sit at the governors office with no action taken by Adelup.
Bill 471 rezones an existing lot in Mogfog, Dededo, from agricultural to commercial to allow for the construction of a multipurpose public facility that would include a basketball court and other recreational areas, said Senator Tina Muna-Barnes.
The manner in which the 30th Guam Legislature adjourned gives Governor Eddie Calvo 30 days to act on the bill by either signing it into law or vetoing it, said Muna-Barnes. Because Camacho took no action on the bill, the incoming governor has 30 days, from December 23 to January 23, to act on it and if he doesnt the bill lapses into law.
The cost of the construction for the facility is from an $800,000 Community Development Block Grant that was already awarded by the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority.
The funds must be completely obligated within the year, otherwise the projects funding will be in jeopardy, said Muna-Barnes.
