Republicans struggling to unite behind primary proposal

SENIOR officers of the Republican Party are trying to reconcile the conflicting positions of two gubernatorial teams on a proposal to have two separate ballots that would allow a voter to choose whether they will vote for Republican or Democratic candidates in the Sept. 4 primary election.
