THE importance of the role of education in society was highlighted yesterday with the proclamation of November as the Public School System Education Month.
Nov. 24 was also declared as Education Day in the CNMI by the proclamation that was signed by Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos and read by Press Secretary Angel Demapan.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial was meeting with local investors while Inos was sick, Demapan said.
Education is the cornerstone upon which the society is built and the CNMIs most vital resource is its children, the proclamation stated.
This month, it added, will provide PSS an opportunity to increase public awareness about the role of education, and to promote closer cooperation and stronger relationship between educators and the community.
Education Month also aims to provide opportunity for professional development in academic or skill areas for the PSS faculty and staff, and a chance to share thoughts, methods and experiences among those concerned with education of the commonwealth children.
This years theme is Education Unlocks Mysteries, Reveals Possibilities and Passes Wisdom.
The administration calls on the people of the CNMI to observe November as Education Month on Saipan, Tinian and Rota and participate in all programs, activities, and ceremonies to support education.
Hopwood Junior High School principal Jonas Barcinas yesterday said that despite having no representatives from Tinian and Rota, both islands are included in all the activities plotted for the month.
