A MAN pled guilty on Monday to stealing nearly $19,000 worth of gas and $1,450 worth of brass cartridges from Naval Base Guam over a four-year period.
Ramon B. Santos, 56, from Hagatna, could face up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 fine for each of the two counts of theft of government property.
According to the plea agreement, the government will recommend a sentence within the guideline range, a minimum fine, and $20,340 in restitution.
Santos stole the $18,890 in gas using a fuel key for a government vehicle from October 2005 to August 2009 from the Government Fuel Station on Naval Base Guam.
He stole the shell casings over a nearly two-year period, or from June 2008 to April 2010.
He stole approximately 2,500 pounds of expended brass shell casings worth a total of $1,450 on at least five separate occasions from the Naval Base Guam Armory and sold them to recycling centers in exchange for money, stated court documents.
